I carry out usability testing on websites (What is usability?). This allows you to watch people using your website and gives you a rich understanding of how it can be improved.
Usability consultancy
The bulk of the work I do involves carrying out usability testing and expert usability reviews of websites. However I also help clients develop intuitive structures (or IA) for their websites and develop research-based user personas.
Usability testing
I have carried out several hundred hours of usability testing and over the years and have refined my approach to be useful yet cost-effective.
So where big consultancies might charge tens of thousands of pounds for usability testing, my projects tend to be charged at around £3,000 including recruitment, incentives and facility hire.
Expert usability reviews
I also carry out expert usability reviews based upon my extensive experience of watching people use websites. You get a concise report. It will be written in plain English and will explain the bits of your site that can be improved as well as practical recommendations of how how to do so. A review of your site can be carried out for as little as £450
Usability mentoring
I mentor people who carry out their own usability projects within their organisation. This allows them to develop their usability knowledge internally while still benefiting from the guidance of an experienced usability practitioner.
I can attend at key stages of your project to lend advice on methodology and practical skills. This helps ensure the usability exercises you carry out are useful and gives you piece of mind that you’re ‘doing it right’.
