Usability testing

Usability testing gives you a ‘fly-on-the-wall’ view of how people use your website. It can be an eye opening experience to see how people really behave when using your site. But most of all it gives you the opportunity to improve your website.

How it works

A usability test is a one-on-one session where a target user (the participant) is asked to complete tasks using the website. I moderate the session and observe the participant’s behaviour, noting any issues they experience whilst trying to complete the tasks.

In my report I explain the usability issues that exist on your website and provide practical recommendations to resolve them.

A usability testing study tends to require just a handful of usability tests, although larger studies are sometimes necessary.

When should I do usability testing?

You can carry out usability testing at any stage of the design process. The earlier the better.
